Softblog: April Fools Weekend

Cheers Stanford softball fans,

This week on the homestead the team enjoyed lots of laughs, friendly competition and even a visit from our favorite tiny human.

Let’s start things off with our flawless execution of not one, but TWO April Fools jokes. Our first joke was to convince Coach Hanson that our entire pitching staff got food poisoning from pregame meal on Friday before our game against Oregon State.

We accomplished this with great acting jobs by Ky, Kait, and Wegs. In addition to the acting, we had both Haley and CLee stay in the locker room during the first part of warm ups to really sell the joke.

Sure enough it worked flawlessly and Coach Hanson said it was the only time in her entire life that she has fallen for an April Fools joke.

Mission accomplished, team.

Our second April Fools joke was targeted for our sports performance coach, Coach Steve. We had special shirts made and wore them under our warm-up jackets until the special reveal during warmups. He was very surprised and loved the shirts.

During down time this weekend we watched March Madness in the locker room and also played our favorite card game, Pusoy. Kylie Sorenson taught us how to play Pusoy and it is now the one and only card game the team plays.

If there is ever any down time you can bet that Pusoy is being played. It gets quite competitive and loud as we all fight to stay at the “winners table.”

A new quarter of classes started this past week and with that comes new and exciting endeavors. Whit and Sav are taking their talents to an architecture class. Here is Sav’s product after week one of the class; and yes, that is made of wood.

Our weekend at home wrapped up with a special guest appearance from Coach Steve’s son, Luca. Luca is definitely a fan favorite and has all of us fighting for his attention.

This week we host Pacific at home on Wednesday and then take off to Los Angeles to take on UCLA this weekend. Haley and I just Google Mapped California Adventure and its only 50 minutes from UCLA … just saying, Coach.

Could be a good option for a team activity.

Keep on keeping it real Stanford softball fans. I’ll catch you next week!
