SEATTLE – Stanford men’s rowing is in Seattle for “Opening Day” this weekend on Montlake Cut. The Cardinal will participate in the 30th annual Windermere Cup along with the University of Washington and the Russian Men’s National Team.
The Windermere Cup is the feature of Seattle's Yacht Club's annual Opening Day of boating season.
“This is the No. 1 spectacle in college rowing,” said Stanford head men’s rowing coach Craig Amerkhanian. “We are very excited to have such a great international crew here with the Russian National Team. This is always a premiere event during the season and we are a thrilled to be a part of it.”

Stanford will have three entries in Saturday’s regatta, beginning with the third varsity eight race against a pair of Washington boats and an Oregon State entry at 11:12 a.m.
The Cardinal second varsity eight will compete in the Erickson Cascade Cup at 11:30 a.m. against Washington and Oregon State.
The highlight of the regatta will be the Windermere Cup race at 11:55 a.m., featuring the varsity eight crew of 15th-ranked Stanford against third-ranked Washington and the Russian National Team.

Saturday’s Windermere Cup will be the final regular-season regatta for Stanford. The Cardinal will travel to Gold River, California on May 15 to compete in the Pac-12 Championships on Lake Natoma.
