The Tournament
• Top-ranked Stanford finished first in the NCAA Tucson Regional Championships, one of six sites used for the tournament proper. The Cardinal has won eight NCAA titles, the most recent in 2007. Heading into the NCAA Championships, Stanford has won three consecutive events – Western Intercollegiate, Pac-12 Championships and NCAA Regional Championships.
• Conrad Ray, the Knowles Family Director of Men’s Golf, is taking his team to its ninth appearance in the NCAA Championships in 12 years at the helm.
The Field
• This season’s field includes 30 teams and six individuals.
The Course
• Oregon will serve as the NCAA Championships’ host school, with the event being contested at Eugene Country Club. It will be third men’s finale and first since 1978 held at the course.
• Eugene Country Club is one of the best-regarded layouts in Oregon. Golf Digest ranks the private track No. 129 in the country -- one spot ahead of Chambers Bay near Tacoma, site of the 2015 U.S. Open -- and No. 5 in Oregon, behind the four courses at Bandon Dunes.
Looking Back on 2015-16
• Stanford has won three times this season, including each of the past three outings. The Cardinal’s Pac-12 title was its third in as many seasons.
• Ben Hogan Award finalist Maverick McNealy (4) and Franklin Huang (1) have combined for five medalist honors. McNealy’s 10 career victories puts him second on Stanford’s all-time chart behind Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers, each of whom had 11 wins on The Farm.
• Stanford’s 70.51 team stroke average is its best since the 2006-07 season (69.80).
• McNealy’s 69.15 stroke average leads the nation, with David Boote (70.82) checking in at 19th.
