STANFORD, Calif. - Junior shortstop Tommy Edman and freshman pitcher Tristan Beck were named All-Pac-12 by the conference office on Thursday. In addition, five other Cardinal -- Quinn Brodey, Chris Castellanos, Alex Dunlap, Colton Hock and Matt Winaker were named honorable mention, while Edman and Winaker were named to the All-Pac-12 Defensive team.
Beck was the second freshman since Mike Mussina in 1988 to start on Opening Day. He led Stanford starters in ERA (2.48), innings (83.1) and strikeouts (76), and was top 10 in the Pac-12 in each category. He allowed the second-fewest home runs (2) and doubles (5) in the Pac-12, and allowed three or fewer runs in 13 of his 14 starts.
Edman started every game for the second straight season and led the Cardinal in runs (35), hits (61), triples (4) and stolen bases (8), and was second in average (.286), total bases (79) and walks (25).

Brodey led the team in home runs (7), RBI (41) and tied Edman for the team lead in hits (61), Castellanos had a team-high eight wins, Dunlap was tops on the Cardinal in slugging (.447) and on-base percentage (.392), Hock led Stanford with six saves and a 2.03 ERA, and Winaker led the team in walks (28), fielding percentage (1.000), and tied Edman for the team lead with four triples.

One player from the conference is selected at each position for the All-Pac-12 Defensive team. Winaker finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 491 chances at first base, while Edman, who showed great range at shortstop all season, had a fielding percentage of .955. Stanford finished with the fewest errors in program history (35) and tied for first in the nation in fielding percentage (.983).

Stanford finished the season at 31-23 overall and 15-15 in Pac-12 play. The Cardinal has now won 30 or more games 36 times in 40 seasons under head coach Mark Marquess.
