Three Compete at P&G Championships

HARTFORD, Conn. – A surge in the finals that saw Akash Modi improve his scores in nearly every event from Friday’s prelims, sent the Cardinal to a fourth place finish at the P&G Championships – the highest finish by a current college gymnast. Teammates Robert Neff and Grant Breckenridge also competed in the event, earning 27th and 32nd place finishes.

Modi came out of Friday’s prelims in sixth place before jumping up the leaderboard with a fantastic 15.400 in parallel bars to take third in the event behind behemoths Chris Brooks and Sam Mikulak. Next up Modi nailed a 15.350 in pommel horse to tie for fourth in the event.

Teammate Robert Neff stepped up to also post a big day in the finals, who posted a season-best 13.950 in pommel horse to finish with an all-around of score of 167.650 over the two days of competition to finish in 27th place.

Rookie Grant Breckenridge continued his stellar freshman campaign as he finished prelims tied for 28th in the field. The Cardinal wrapped up the P&G Championships with a 32nd place finish overall.

Next up, the Cardinal will be represented at the U.S. Olympic Trials set to take place on June 23 in St. Louis. The meet is set to start at 5 p.m. PT. More information can be found here.
