All-Pac-12 Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – After its best finish since 2012, the Stanford men's tennis team was well-represented on the All-Pac-12 Team, as announced today by the conference.

Tom Fawcett was named to the first team for the second consecutive year, while teammate David Wilczynski claimed second-team honors and Maciek Romanowicz rounded out the awards with an honorable mention.

Fawcett, coming off a phenomenal rookie campaign in 2015 in which he posted a 26-12 record and went 14-7 in duals to claim the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award, stepped up to post an extraordinary sophomore season for an even better 16-6 dual record and 22-8 overall record. Ranked as high as No. 3 during the season, Fawcett also collected 15 wins over ranked opponents as the stalwart of the Cardinal offense in the No. 1 spot. Fawcett cemented himself as the lynchpin of Stanford’s success with a team-leading five clinching points on the year, including one over No. 14 Northwestern to advance the Cardinal to the Round of 16.

Sophomore David Wilczynski also collected his second All-Pac-12 award of his career, moving up from an honorable mention in 2015 to a second team honoree after a 15-17 overall record in singles and 6-12 dual record. Wilczynski played the clincher in two matches on the year against Sacramento State and Oregon. In addition, Wilcyznski also laid claim to the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional title in the fall.

Senior Maciek Romanowicz closes out his career with his first All-Pac-12 award with an honorable mention. Romanowicz compiled the best season of his four years at Stanford with a career-best 23-8 overall singles record and 16-5 duals record. In addition, he also comprised half of the ranked doubles duo with Tom Fawcett with another career-best 27-10 overall record and a 15-5 dual record.

The Cardinal wrapped up its 2015-2016 season with its best finish since 2012 when it advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
