Players to Watch

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior goalkeeper Jane Campbell and junior midfielder Andi Sullivan were named to the watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the highest honor in collegiate soccer.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer presented annually to the outstanding male and female players of the year.

It is the second consecutive year the duo were selected to the preseason watch list. The Cardinal is one of 10 teams in the nation to have multiple representatives on the watch list, which consists of 36 women's soccer players.

Seven of Stanford's 19 opponents will feature at least one member on the watch list, including multiple representatives on Georgetown, Florida, Minnesota and USC.

Sullivan had an outstanding sophomore season, co-captaining Stanford to its 10th Pac-12 title and an NCAA Quarterfinals appearance. She earned NSCAA first-team All-America honors and was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist. Sullivan started all 23 games and played all but 37:30 minutes this past season. She scored five goals in 2015 with each goal either giving Stanford a lead or erasing a one-goal deficit.

Campbell, a psychology major, registered 10 shutouts in 2015 to increase her career total to 30 – good for fourth all-time in Stanford history. She earned a 18-2-2 record, boasting a career-best 0.58 goals-against average with 49 saves on the year. Campbell was named to the NSCAA All-Pacific Region first team, All-Pac-12 first team and was the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year.

The duo were centerpieces to a Stanford team that earned its 10th Pac-12 title, registering 12 shutouts and limiting opponents to 13 goals in 23 games for a 0.55 GAA on the season. Stanford made its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance and 18th consecutive.

Stanford has had three winners in the past seven years and 14 Cardinal over the past decade have made the watch list or been semifinalists.

In 2011, Teresa Noyola became the third consecutive Stanford player to win the Hermann Trophy, following Christen Press in 2010 and Kelley O'Hara in 2009. With Noyola's victory, Stanford became the first to have three different winners in as many years.

Near the end of the collegiate regular season, NCAA Division I coaches will vote on their top 15 choices. The list will be narrowed down to three finalists and the winner will be announced in January.
