STANFORD, Calif. – No. 5 Stanford opens its 2016 schedule with an exhibition Thursday at 7 p.m. (PT) against UC Davis at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

Stanford went 19-2-2 a year ago, including a 10-0-1 record in Pac-12 play to earn its 10th conference title in program history. The Cardinal made its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance and 18th consecutive, advancing to the quarterfinals before dropping a penalty kick decision against Duke.
UC Davis posted a 10-7-2 record in 2015, going 3-4-1 in the Big West conference. The Aggies return their leading scorer from a year ago, Rachel Smith Ahr, who registered five goals in 19 games.
Stanford will use its matchup against the Aggies as a tuneup before it begins its regular season next week at Navy (Aug. 19, 4 p.m. PT). The Cardinal makes its home debut Aug. 26 against top-10 opponent, Florida, at 8 p.m.
Stanford was selected to finish first in the Pac-12 preseason coaches poll for the second consecutive year.
Stanford has won 10 conference championships since 1993, including four during consecutive perfect Pac-10/12 seasons from 2009-12. Stanford's 44-match conference winning streak from 2008-13 is the third-longest in NCAA Division I history.
Stanford will be featured in 11 Pac-12 Networks broadcasts this season.
