SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Tomas Hilliard-Arce played a ball into the box from deep in the waning seconds of regulation, Foster Langsdorf took the pass and scored at the near post and No. 1 Stanford rolled out of San Luis Obispo with a 2-1 victory over Cal Poly on Wednesday night.
Langsdorf's goal at 89:51 concluded a Cardinal sweep in the team's tune-ups for its 2016 season. On Saturday, Stanford routed Sacramento State at Cagan Stadium, 5-0. Cardinal matches count beginning at home against Penn State next Friday, August 26 (5 p.m.). A junior and Stanford's leading returning scorer, Langsdorf has equipped himself well in his squad's pair of exhibitions and totaled three of the Cardinal's seven goals. The forward tallied a brace in Stanford's home victory last weekend.

Langsdorf's late winner broke a 1-1 deadlock after the two sides scored less than three minutes apart nearly midway through the second half.
Redshirt freshman defender Tanner Beason found the back of the goal with the help of Sam Werner and Drew Skundrich in the 63rd minute, hammering home his attempt from the right side of the box.
In the 66th, Cal Poly's Adam Olsen pounced on a loose ball in the box that had deflected off a Stanford defender and brought the Mustangs level.
Stanford's opener against Penn State is its first of 10 matches this season at a place where it has experienced significant success over the past two years. The Cardinal was unbeaten at Cagan Stadium in 2015 and is 19-1-6 in its last 26 matches on The Farm. The program's goals-against average at home since 2014 is a miniscule 0.54.
