STANFORD, Calif. – Incoming freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Bing has been named to the U-21 U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) Junior World Cup Roster as announced by Janneke Schopman, head coach for the USA U-21 Field Hockey team.
Bing, no stranger to the international game, has been a member of the U-21 USWNT since 2014. This summer alone she has competed as the starting goalkeeper for the Junior Pan-American Championship team that took silver as well as leading the U-21 team to the Young Women's National Championship gold finish.
Bing joins the Cardinal this fall after an illustrious career at St. John's School in Houston, Texas which has earned her a top-5 ranking in the Max Preps Field Hockey Top-5 National Player Rankings. Throughout her career she amassed multiple All-American awards while leading her team to a state championship in 2015.
Teammate Sarah Helgeson is also being considered for the team as well, with the remaining four selections to be made at the end of September.
Bing and the Cardinal will kick-off their 2016 campaign with a home match against 2015 NCAA semifinalist UConn on Friday, August 26 at 4 p.m. at Varsity Field.
