Bro Wraps Up in Rio

RIO DE JANIERO, Brazil - Rising sophomore Brickelle Bro completed her fourth and final event on Friday at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

The Stanford swimmer represented Team USA in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly.

Bro's best finish came in the 400 free where she reached the finals and finished seventh overall with a time of 5:16.38. She had qualified with a third-place finish in her heat (5:16.02).

Bro was also 13th in the 100-meter butterfly (1:30.14) and 10th in the 100-meter freestyle (1:14.41). On Friday, she was 14th in the 50-meter freestyle (34.93) to wrap up her competition in Rio.

It marked the second Paralympic Games for Bro, who finished fifth in the 400-meter freestyle in London in 2012. 

Bro had fibular hemimelia and amniotic band syndrome before birth, resulting in the amputation of both of legs below the knee, and is an S8 classification in Paralympic competition.
