STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 18 Cardinal field hockey team takes to the road again this weekend as it travels to face the UMass Minutewomen and the Yale Bulldogs. Stanford will take on UMass on Friday at 1 p.m. (PT) and Yale Sunday at 9 a.m. The games are set to be played in Amherst, Mass. and New Haven, Conn., respectively.

Last Week with Stanford Field Hockey
• No. 18 Stanford hit the road east for the first time this season two weeks ago before its bye week to take on some intense competition as it faced No. 18 Boston College and No. 1 Syracuse in Syracuse, N.Y. The Cardinal fell 3-2 (OT) to Boston College and 3-1 to No. 1 Syracuse. It wrapped up its trip east with a 1-0 win over Cornell with Sarah Helgeson with the game-winner.

Varsity Spells Victory
• Most teams like to play at home in the comfy confines of their own stadium. The Cardinal LOVES Varsity Turf. Under head coach Tara Danielson, Stanford has a home record of 47-11 - an incredible 81% winning percentage.

In the Polls
• The Cardinal checked in at No. 18 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll. Its preseason ranking of 11 is the second highest in program history.

Postseasons of Years Past
• Under head coach Tara Danielson, the Cardinal have gone to the NCAA Tournament five out of her six seasons at the helm.

Be With You In a Minute(Woman)
• The Cardinal have faced off with the UMass Minutewomen five times in program history, holding a 3-2 record. Under Danielson - 2-0...which might be for good reason - Danielson graduated UMass in 1994.

Hey, Bulldog!
• The Cardinal have taken on the Yale Bulldogs six times and holds a 5-1 record on the 'dogs. Under Danielson? A purrrrfect 3-0.

Best in the West
• While the argument exists that most of the NCAA's powerhouse programs are in the east - no one can deny that Stanford is the powerhouse of the west. The Cardinal has made more NCAA tournament appearances than any other program in the west - while also making consistent appearances on the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll... as the sole west coast team.

In addition, Stanford was selected for the second consecutive year as favorites in the America East West Division.

Coaching Milestones
• Tara Danielson's tenure on the Farm has showcased success nearly unparalleled in Stanford Field Hockey. In just six seasons she has become the second winningest coach in program history - second behind only Sheryl Johnson, who led the program for 18 years to 165 wins. It took Johnson 13 years to get her 100th win at Stanford... Danielson currently sits at 98 wins... in her SEVENTH year. This year Danielson will lead the Cardinal to her 100th career win at Stanford - at least if history tells us anything - Danielson has never posted a win total of less than 13 in a season in her career at Stanford.

Game of Numbers
69 - Consecutive games that the Cardinal have allowed three or less goals (last was No. 1 UNC 11/10/12)

6 - Newcomers on the roster that have played in every game

47-11 - Career record in home matches for Danielson

Freshmen? WHAT Freshmen?
• Tara Danielson enters into the season with seven newcomers on the roster - and they're called newcomers because they certainly DON'T play like freshmen. Some argue that they don't even know they are freshmen, especially by their level of play!
