ST. MARY'S CITY, MD. – Stanford began its 2016-17 campaign this past weekend with a ninth-place finish at the St. Mary's Fall Intercollegiate.
The Cardinal finished with 262 total points in the two-division regatta, hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland. In the A-division, the all-sophomore team of skipper William Marshall and crew Cassie Obel took 10th place.
Two of Stanford's six All-Americans from the 2015-16 season represented the Cardinal in the B-division. Sophomore skipper Martina Sly took the helm with senior crew J.P. Cannistraro at crew, finishing in ninth place.

The Cardinal returns to the water next weekend for the first Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference championship of the season, the PCCSC Match Racing Championship.
