STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford delivered a dominating performance Sunday to earn a 3-0 victory against Marquette.
The Cardinal (5-0) came out strong and never let up, finishing the game with stark advantages in shots (31-2) and corner kicks (10-0). It is the most shots in a game for Stanford since Nov. 2, 2014, when it registered 48 shots in a 7-0 win against Oregon State.
Megan Turner contributed a goal and an assist, while Michelle Xiao and Jordan DiBiasi added a goal apiece. Stanford's defense was active offensively with Maddie Bauer generating two assists and Alana Cook providing an assist as well.
Jane Campbell made one save and combined with Alison Jahansouz for Stanford's third shutout of the season. It is the second time this season the duo has combined for a shutout.

Highlights from Stanford's victory against Marquette.
Stanford got off to a fast start and generated seven corner kicks in the first 30 minutes. The Cardinal hit the post on two corner-kick headers – first by Averie Collins in the 7th minute, then again by Tierna Davidson in the 30th minute.
Stanford finally broke through in the 37th minute when Cook dribbled the ball with pace through her defensive end on the left side of the field. She sent a long ball down the line to a streaking Xiao who caught the Marquette goalkeeper out of position with a chip shot from about 20 yards out to put Stanford up, 1-0.
The Cardinal continued to pressure with a pair of quality shots by Andi Sullivan and Jaye Boissiere before the half. Stanford took a 1-0 lead and an 18-1 shot advantage into halftime.
Stanford kept its foot on the pedal and struck quickly in the second half with an outstanding finish by DiBiasi in the 46th minute. Bauer carried the ball through the midfield and snuck a pass between multiple Marquette defenders to Turner inside the penalty box. With her back to goal, Turner sent a pass back to the top of the left side of the box where DiBiasi was waiting.
DiBiasi unloaded a one-touch shot with her left foot to the upper-left corner of the goal to put Stanford up 2-0.
Turner provided the exclamation point on the victory in the 71st minute with her second goal of the year. Bauer sent a long ball from the center line to the right edge of the penalty box where Turner was making her run. Turner received the pass with a cut toward the center of the box and placed a shot into the far right post.
The Cardinal continued to maintain possession and attack regularly during the final 19 minutes to secure the victory. Stanford showcased its depth with 21 players earning playing time.
