STANFORD, Calif. – Jessica Welch was named America East Rookie of the Week for her standout play this past weekend against No. 10 Michigan and Kent State, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Welch scored twice against Kent State, while putting up five shots with four on goal for an .800 shots on goal percentage.
The rookie has scored three goals in three games to lead Stanford with the first game-winning goal of her career and the 2016 season.
It is the first weekly honor for Stanford this season and the first career award for Welch.
The Cardinal will hit the road for the first time this week as it travels to take on Boston College on September 10th and reigning NCAA Champion, Syracuse on September 11th. Both games are set to be played at 11:00 a.m. PT in Syracuse, N.Y.
