STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford was named a recipient of the College Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year, as announced recently by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn recognition. Stanford was one of 221 schools to have both its men's and women's soccer programs recognized.
Stanford posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.58 during 2015-16 to lead all Pac-12 teams for the second consecutive year.
The Cardinal had nine players earn Pac-12 All-Academic honors, two Academic All-District selections and one NSCAA Scholar All-American.
Stanford continues conference play Sunday at 1 p.m. (PT) at No. 10 UCLA. The Cardinal returns home Oct. 8 when it plays host to Oregon State at 5 p.m.
