STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford redshirt junior goalkeeper Andrew Epstein was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for games from October 3 to October 9 the conference announced Tuesday.
The honor is the second of Epstein's career, the first of the season for the Cardinal and Stanford's 25th all-time player of the week selection.
Epstein posted his fourth and fifth solo shutouts of the season and the 17th and 18th of his career at No. 16 Washington and Oregon State last week. The Cardinal won both by 1-0 score lines and moved to 3-0 in conference play for the first time in program history.
Epstein and the Cardinal have not allowed a goal in Pac-12 play and put together the first three-shutout streak in league games for the program since 2007.
The electrical engineering major and 2015 CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American is now tied for third in career shutouts in Stanford history and tied for ninth among active NCAA players. Since the start of league action, Epstein has lowered his goals against average from 0.93 to 0.68 and is now 30th nationally in that category.
Epstein's other Pac-12 weekly honor came on Sept. 8, 2015.
No. 16 Stanford (6-2-3, 3-0-0 Pac-12), 6-1 in its last seven matches, looks to keep rolling when it hosts No. 25 San Diego State (6-2-3, 1-1-1 Pac-12) on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
