STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sailed in two regattas on opposite ends of the country this past weekend, finishing sixth at the Stoney Burke Regatta in San Francisco and 15th at the Truxton Umstead Regatta in Annapolis, Maryland.
At the Stoney Burke Regatta, freshman skipper Nestor Cano led Stanford to a third place finish in the A-division with senior crew Lauren Block. In the B-division, junior skipper Haley Fox and sophomore crew Kathryn Booker finished sixth.
The Cardinal took 15th place at the Truxton Umstead Regatta, hosted by the United States Naval Academy. In the A-division, sophomore skipper Martina Sly and senior crew J.P. Cannistraro finished 19th, while senior skipper Reinier Eenkema van Dijk and freshman crew Taylor Kirkpatrick guided Stanford to an 11th-place finish in the B-division.
Sophomore William Marshall had Stanford's best showing of the regatta in the singlehanded C-division, finishing sixth. Sophomore Olivia Gugliemini rounded out the Cardinal with a 19th place finish in the singlehanded D-division.
Stanford is back in action next weekend with three regattas – the Mrs. Hurst Women's Regatta in Hanover, New Hampshire; the Hoyt Trophy in Providence, Rhode Island; and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Singlehanded Championships in Long Beach, California.
