STANFORD, Calif. - The 18th-ranked Cardinal field hockey team will close out its 2016 home season this weekend hosting a pair of conference foes with UC Davis on Friday at 6 p.m. and Cal on Sunday at 1 p.m. (PT).

Last Week with Stanford Field Hockey
• The Cardinal continued its conference slate of games against the then-NCAA goals per game leader, Pacific. While the Cardinal held the Tigers to only one goal, Pacific was able to shutout Stanford for the first time this season in a 1-0 loss.

Varsity Spells Victory
• Most teams like to play at home in the comfy confines of their own stadium. The Cardinal LOVES Varsity Turf. Under head coach Tara Danielson, Stanford has a home record of 48-11 - an incredible 83% winning percentage.

In the Polls
• The Cardinal checked in at No. 18 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll this week - the 48th consecutive week it has remained in the top-20 rankings. Its preseason ranking of 11 is the second-highest in program history.

Not in this House, Aggies
• While the competition between UC Davis and Stanford has gotten a bit more heated over the last few years, the Aggies have never defeated the Cardinal at Varsity Turf.

All-time the Cardinal hold a 15-1 record and took a 1-0 win in double overtime against the Aggies in September.

Time to Settle the Score
• Rivalry games are always intense, especially between Cal and Stanford. All-time the Bears lead the series 52-51-5... with a win the Cardinal can knot the series for the first time since 2002....when most of the current Cardinal were around four-eight years old.

Under Danielson it's been a different story against Cal - she's 13-3 all-time against the Bay Area rivals. Including a thrilling 3-2 win in a shootout this year in Stanford's first game at Underhill Field on October 7.

Welch's Wickedly (Accurate) Ways
• Jessica Welch has stepped up to lead the Cardinal in goals this year with 5... with only 10 shots on goal. She puts it on target? It has a 50-50 chance of finding net.

Coaching Milestones
• Tara Danielson's tenure on the Farm has showcased success nearly unparalleled in Stanford Field Hockey. In just six seasons she has become the second winningest coach in program history - second behind only Sheryl Johnson, who led the program for 18 years to 165 wins. It took Johnson 13 years to get her 100th win at Stanford... Danielson collected hers in less than  SEVEN years. This year Danielson led the Cardinal to her 100th win at Stanford - against the Yale Bulldogs on September 25th.

Game of Numbers
• 74 - Consecutive games (over 5 years) that the Cardinal have allowed three or less goals (last was No. 1 UNC 11/10/12)

• 4 - Freshmen that have played in every game

• 48-11 - Career record in home matches for Danielson

• 74 - Winning percentage Danielson has in her tenure at Stanford
