STANFORD, Calif. – Fran Tew has been named the America East Offensive Player of the Week for her team-leading three goals to help the 17th-ranked Cardinal to a 2-0 record with wins over UC Davis and Cal to clinch the West Division's No. 1 seed in next week's America East Tournament.
Tew was phenomenal against UC Davis Friday night, leading the Cardinal (9-5, 4-1 America East) with two goals in a 6-1 rout of UC Davis in its highest-scoring game since September 2015.
In addition, Tew added the insurance goal on Sunday against Cal as the Cardinal took a 2-0 win from the Golden Bears to close out its 2016 home slate.
The award is the first of Tew's career and third conference honor for the Cardinal this season.
