STANFORD, Calif. – Behind double-digit kills from freshman Kathryn Plummer and redshirt senior Inky Ajanaku, the No. 17 Stanford women's volleyball team swept No. 18 Washington State, 25-18, 25-21, 25-21, Friday in Maples Pavilion.
It marks the first time this season the Cardinal (14-6, 8-4 Pac-12) has won two home matches in the same week. Stanford has now swept its last three home opponents, including Arizona State (Oct. 15) and seventh-ranked Washington (Oct. 26).
Stanford held Washington State (17-6, 7-4 Pac-12) to a .148 attack percentage, while hitting .301 as a team. The Cardinal held a 9.0 to 7.0 edge in blocks and a 46-42 advantage in digs.
Plummer led all players with 17 kills, one shy of her career-high, and notched seven digs, a solo block and an ace. Ajanaku hit .529 and finished with 10 kills and three blocks. Redshirt junior opposite Merete Lutz recorded nine kills on .368 hitting, while freshman middle blocker Audriana Fitzmorris tallied seven kills, four blocks and three digs.
Freshman setter Jenna Gray racked-up 36 assists, seven digs and a career-high five blocks. Freshman libero Morgan Hentz collected 16 digs and five assists. She has registered double-digit digs in all 20 matches this season. Kelsey Humphreys and Halland McKenna combined for 11 digs, while Ivana Vanjak had four kills.
Washington State was led by senior outside hitter Kyra Holt's 11 kills and 10 digs. McKenna Woodford added six kills and two blocks, while Hailey Bethune totaled five kills on .300 hitting and two blocks.
The Cardinal hits the road next week, traveling to Colorado on Friday, Nov. 4 at No. 21 Utah on Saturday, Nov. 5. Friday's match will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
