REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Stanford won the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Fall Women's Championship this past weekend, claiming both divisions in a wire-to-wire victory.
Sophomore skipper Mimi El-Khazindar led Stanford's B-squad to a win in the division with crew junior Elena VandenBerg, finishing with 23 points, the lowest point total of any pair in the fleet.
Sophomore Martina Sly skippered Stanford's A-division squad with senior Lauren Block serving as crew. The pair finished with just 30 points from 10 races, the second best haul of any team in the regatta.
Stanford also hosted the Cardinal Invite, with two Stanford boats finishing in the top three. Stanford's A-squad, which won the event with 17 points from nine races, featured senior skipper Reinier Eenkema van Dijk, junior skipper Will La Dow, freshman crew Taylor Kirkpatrick, sophomore crew Kathryn Booker and senior crew J.P. Cannistraro.
Stanford's B-squad, which included freshman skipper Jacob Rosenberg and sophomore crew Cassie Obel, finished third with 23 points.
Stanford returns to action next weekend when it travels to Galveston, Texas, to compete in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Singlehanded Nationals. Junior Luke Muller and sophomore William Marshall will represent Stanford in the men's championship, while sophomore Olivia Gugliemini and junior Haley Fox will race in the women's division.
