STANFORD, Calif. – No. 5 Stanford men's water polo begins a busy week on Wednesday in Santa Clara as the Cardinal meets the No. 20 Broncos on Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT.
Following Wednesday's match, Stanford will host a pair of contests over the weekend. The Cardinal will face No. 6 Long Beach State on Saturday and San Jose State (receiving votes) on Sunday. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m. PT at Avery Aquatic Center.
Stanford enters Wednesday's match 8-2 on the season, after winning three of four matches at the Mountain Pacific Invitational Sept. 23-25. The Cardinal defeated San Jose State (20-6) in its tournament opener, before rebounding from a 9-8 setback to No. 4 Pacific with an 11-9 victory over No. 10 Pepperdine and an 8-6 win over No. 7 Long Beach State.
Sophomore Blake Parrish guides the Cardinal's attack with 21 goals on the year. He scored at least one goal in each of the first nine matches, with multiple scores in eight of those contests. Junior Cody Smith is the lone Cardinal with at least one goal in all 10 matches. He has posted 20 goals on the season.
Junior goalie Oliver Lewis is averaging 10.1 saves per game for the Cardinal.
Stanford earned three victories against Santa Clara last season, posting an 18-0 home win on Sept. 19, an 18-5 win in Davis, Calif. on Sept. 27, and a 20-0 home victory on Nov. 10.
