STANFORD, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford heads south for a pivotal weekend in Pac-12 play as it takes on a pair of top-10 opponents.

The Cardinal (10-0-1, 3-0 Pac-12) begins the weekend Thursday at 4 p.m. (PT) at No. 7 USC (9-2, 3-0 Pac-12) before heading across town to take on No. 10 UCLA (9-2, 3-0 Pac-12) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Stanford earned victories against both teams in 2015. The win against the Trojans clinched a share of the Pac-12 title for the Cardinal and the victory against the Bruins secured the championship outright.

Stanford won both games this past weekend and is riding a four-game winning streak. The Cardinal earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Washington State and cruised to a 3-0 win against Washington.

Alana Cook was named the Pac-12 Defender of the Week for her standout play in both games. She made a crucial goal line stop against Washington State in the 59th minute to keep the score, 0-0, before Stanford scored twice to take a commanding lead. Cook helped Stanford limit Washington to two shots on goal despite the Cardinal playing with 10 players for a majority of the match due to a red card.

MAC Herman Trophy candidate, Andi Sullivan, continued her impressive season with strong performances in both games, scoring a goal against the Cougars and helping shut down the Huskies attack. She matched her point total from a year ago (12) in the first 10 games this season.

Kyra Carusa assisted three of Stanford's five goals this past weekend, including both game-winners. She has contributed at least one point in 7-of-11 games this season.

The Cardinal has scored two or more goals in 10-of-11 games this season, while limiting opponents to one goal or fewer in all but one match. Stanford has not trailed in a game at any point this season.

Thursday's game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network and live statistics will be available for both games.

Sullivan Makes Her Case
Andi Sullivan established herself as a legitimate MAC Hermann Trophy candidate a year ago as a sophomore and has picked up where she left off with an impressive junior campaign. The defensive midfielder has started all 11 games and is tied for the team-lead with 12 points, accumulating four goals and four assists.

Sullivan's impact goes beyond statistics. Her leadership, defense, distribution and ability to attack with pace makes her a unique centerpiece. Sullivan is an elite defender with a blistering shot from distance and shoulders a majority of the free-kick and corner kick responsibilities.

Head coach Paul Ratcliffe: "Andi is making a huge impact on our team. She's the engine in our midfield and has excellent technical ability, speed and power.

"It is very rare to find a player with all of the attributes Andi possesses. Yet, Andi's strongest quality is her leadership. She is one of the strongest leaders that I have ever coached."

Sullivan matched her point total from a year ago (12) in the first 10 games this season.
