STANFORD, Calif. – Redshirt junior goalkeeper Andrew Epstein was named to the 2016 Academic All-America® Division I first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced Tuesday.
 
Epstein, who was on the Academic All-America® Division I third team last season, joins Taylor Graham (2002) as the Cardinal's only first team Academic All-Americans® in men's soccer. His award is the 205th for a Stanford student-athlete all-time.
 
An electrical engineering major with a 3.76 GPA, Epstein is one of the best goalkeepers in program history. His 20 career solo shutouts are third all-time at Stanford and his career goals against average (0.72) would be second. His 159 career saves are seventh and his 5,715:21 minutes in goal are already fourth.
 
Epstein owns a career record of 43-8-10 (.787) and is tied for 11th among active players in solo shutouts. His 0.703 goals against average this season is 17th in the country and he hasn't allowed a goal in his last 310 postseason minutes.
