Four-Game Series with Kansas

STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford men's basketball program has announced an agreement on a four-game series with Kansas.

The Cardinal and Jayhawks will meet in each of the next four seasons, beginning Dec. 3 at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.

"This is great for Stanford and great for college basketball," said Jerod Haase, Stanford's Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball. "A four-game series to ensure we have a game in front of our fans at Maples Pavilion is something we worked diligently to execute. We are excited to have the Jayhawks be a part of our nonconference schedule each of the next four seasons."

The original agreement was for two years, with a game in the 2017-18 season slated to be played Dec. 21 at Golden 1 Center, in Sacramento, California.

With Stanford's appointment of Haase, a former standout at Kansas from 1994-97, the two programs agreed on an extended series that includes games in 2018 and 2019.

Stanford will return to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence on Dec. 1, 2018, and host the Jayhawks at Maples Pavilion on Dec. 29, 2019.

The two teams last met on March 23, 2014, in St. Louis in the NCAA Tournament, where Stanford posted a 60-57 upset over Kansas to advance to the Sweet 16. The Jayhawks lead the all-time series, 8-3.

This season's matchup will be Stanford's first trip to Lawrence, Kansas, since Dec. 18, 1967.
