WINDSOR, Ontario, Canada -- Sophomore Ella Eastin earned a pair of silver medals at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Ontario over the weekend, while freshman Katie Drabot helped a pair of United States relay teams to the podium.

Eastin earned both medals in the individual medleys. The Irvine, Calif., native edged out her USA counterpart Madisyn Cox in 400-meter IM. Eastin's time of 4:27.78 trailed only three-time Olympic champion Katinka Hosszu and edged Cox's finish of 4:27.78. That trio finished in the same order in the 200 with Hosszu (2:02.90) taking gold over Eastin (2:05.02) and Cox (2:05.93). Eastin also reached the finals of the 100 IM and placed eighth (59.97).

Drabot competed in the heats of the 400 and 800-meter freestyle relays. She swam the third leg of the 4x200 to propel the U.S. to the top time in the preliminaries (7:41.25), and the Americans eventually claimed silver in the finals (7:38.65) with a second-place finish to the host Canadians (7:33.89). In the 4x100, Drabot swam the second leg in a seventh-place preliminary finish, and the U.S. went on to claim gold in the final.

Drabot, Eastin and the Cardinal will compete next at Arizona State on Friday, Jan. 20, and at Arizona the following afternoon. Stanford returns to The Farm for its final two meets of the year at Avery Aquatic Center on Jan. 27 against UCLA (2 p.m.) and Jan. 28 versus USC (noon). Admission is free to all Stanford home meets.
