STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford was ranked second in the Collegiate Gymnastics Association Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the organization.
The Cardinal received 357 points and a first-place vote. Oklahoma led the country with 377 points and 17 first-place votes.
Stanford earned its tenth top-three finish at the NCAA Championships in the past 11 years in the 2016 season. The Cardinal went 24-3, registering 18 wins over top-10 opponents, including nine ranked in the top five. Three Cardinal gymnasts combined for seven All-America honors and two gymnasts earned NCAA titles.
With the core group of competitors intact and talented incoming freshman class of five gymnasts, Stanford will again be poised to challenge for its sixth national championship in 2017.
