STANFORD, Calif. (AP) – A first-half double-double by Reid Travis paced Stanford to a 79-55 win against Cal State East Bay Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal, playing its first game in 13 days after taking a break for final exams, used Travis' fifth double-double of the season to improve to 7-3 on the year with the 24-point victory.

Travis, who finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds, posted a double-double by halftime, as he shot 8-for-9 and totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds. The junior forward finished the game 9-for-10 in just 22 minutes.

Stanford made its first seven shots from the field to open a double-digit lead early on. The Cardinal converted just under 70 percent in the first half while forging a 46-26 lead. It led 14-3 after barely five minutes and used an 11-0 burst to push to a 33-16 advantage.

"Finals at Stanford are real and really take a toll on the guys here," Stanford head men's basketball coach Jerod Haase said. "Some of our players have pulled all-nighters. I didn't expect perfect play. I was really pleased with a variety of lineups that brought energy and executed."

Dorian Pickens added 11 points for Stanford, which shot a season-best 55 percent for the game.

Stanford saw 15 players see action in the contest with freshman Blake Pagon recording his first collegiate points in the game.

Cal State East Bay played one night after beating Cal Poly Pomona 78-69 on the road in a Northern California Athletic Conference game. The Pioneers (8-2) counted the Stanford matchup as an exhibition.

"Whenever you have the opportunity to play a university like Stanford you have to do it," said Cal State East Bay head coach Gus Argenal. "I have a ton of respect for coach Haase I know him personally, he's one of the best in the country.  And for our guys it is learning to play against the highest competition and this only prepares us for our league games. This game allows me to play different guys and lineups.

"Reid [Travis] is an absolute monster," Argenal added. "I love that he is very sound. He sets great screens for other players, he's talkative on defense."

Pierre Carter scored 14 points for Cal State East Bay, which shot 29.7 percent. The Pioneers lost for the third time against a San Francisco Bay Area opponent in a game they designated as an exhibition. Previously, they fell 96-80 to San Jose State and 75-50 to Santa Clara.

Stanford returns to action Monday when it travels to Dallas, Texas, to face SMU. The Cardinal and the Mustangs will tip at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2 with live statistics available at GoStanford.com.
