STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Christian McCaffrey received a pair of All-America accolades, as announced recently by The Sporting News and Walter Camp Football Foundation.
McCaffrey was named to the second team by The Sporting News (athlete) and Walter Camp Football Foundation (running back), the second straight such honor by the latter.
McCaffrey, CoSIDA's Academic All-American of the Year, leads the nation with 211.6 all-purpose yards/game and ranks fourth nationally with 145.7 rushing yards/game. His 2,327 all-purpose yards rank second in Stanford history, only bested by his NCAA record of 3,864 last season. Despite missing six quarters this season, his 1,603 rushing yards are tops in the Pac-12 and fourth-most in a season in school history.
The Castle Rock, Colorado, native announced Wednesday that he will enter the NFL Draft upon the conclusion of the 2016 season.
Stanford faces North Carolina in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 30. The game will be televised on CBS at noon MT.
