Hermann Honored

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Julia Hermann was named MPSF/Kap7 Player of the Week when the conference announced its weekly honors on Tuesday afternoon.

Hermann lowered her goals against average by a full point with a pair of stellar performances in the cage at the Davis Shootout on Sunday, making 21 total saves and allowing just five goals in eight quarters.

On the road against the host No. 5 Aggies, Hermann stopped eight shots in Stanford’s 14-5 win and guided the Cardinal defense to limit Davis to just 1-of-8 of its 6-on-5 opportunities. She followed that up in the afternoon with her first career shutout in a 17-0 victory over Brown. Hermann had her third double-digit save effort of the season against the Bears, tallying 13. Brown had four power-play opportunities and put shots on frame twice, both handled by Hermann.

The redshirt sophomore, seeing the first extended action of her career, lowered her goals against average to 5.83 and upped her saves per game to 8.69 in the wins.

Stanford (9-1) heads down to Irvine this weekend for the UCI Invitational, which begins against Loyola Marymount on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
