Bouncing Back

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 8 Stanford snapped its rare losing skid with a 6-1 victory over No. 47 Saint Mary’s on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford (2-2) was coming off back-to-back losses against top-25 foes last weekend, dropping its record to under .500 for the first time in school history, spanning 42 seasons and 1,032 matches.

On Friday, perhaps the Cardinal simply benefited from returning home, where it has lost only six times in the last 17 years.

The Cardinal breezed through doubles, highlighted by Melissa Lord and Kimberly Yee posting a 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot to set the tone.

Caroline Lampl extended the lead to 2-0 following a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 position before Krista Hardebeck followed with a 6-3, 6-3 result on court three.

Lord then provided the clincher with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at the No. 5 spot.

Stanford next faces TCU on Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon.
