Hong Named AAI Award Finalist

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s gymnast Ivana Hong is one of six finalists for the AAI Award – presented to the nation’s most outstanding senior women’s gymnast – as announced by the organization Wednesday.

Hong was named a second-team All-Pac-12 selection on beam earlier this week – the fourth all-conference honor of her illustrious career.

Hong is a four-time All-American with two awards on beam, and one on vault and bars. She is one of two gymnasts in Stanford history to register two top-four finishes on beam at the NCAA Individual finals, including a second-place finish in 2015.

Hong is a three-time NCAA Regional champion with titles on beam and vault in 2013, and beam in 2015.

Ivana Hong reflects on her time at Stanford.

Hong has continued to deliver as a redshirt senior and recorded five individual event victories during the 2016 regular season – three on beam and two on bars.

Hong has excelled in the classroom as well and holds a 3.23 GPA as a human biology and sociology major. She was a 2015 Pac-12 All-Academic selection. Hong interned at the Stanford Sports Medicine Clinic in 2015, created a gymnastics physical education curriculum to be implemented in local schools and plans on pursuing a career in sports medicine.

Hong is joined by Caitlin Atkinson (Auburn), Lindsay Mable (Minnesota), Nina McGee (Denver), Haley Scaman (Oklahoma) and Bridget Sloan (Florida) as finalists.
