STANFORD, Calif. – Top-ranked Stanford lightweight women’s rowing looks to defend its title in the Lightweight Invitational on the Charles River in Boston Saturday and Sunday.
The Cardinal will also compete in the Stanford Invitational/Pac-12 Challenge in Redwood Shores on Saturday.
In Boston, Stanford will once again face the nation’s other top boats this Saturday and Sunday, competing against No. 2 Boston, No. 3. Wisconsin, No. 4 Harvard Radcliffe and No. 5 MIT in Boston. The Cardinal is coming off a victory in the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in New Jersey last weekend.
The Lightweight Invitational, hosted by MIT, is in its fifth year. Stanford won last year’s event, while Harvard Radcliffe owns two titles and Wisconsin captured the initial crown.
Stanford’s varsity eight will face Harvard Radcliffe and MIT beginning at 5:24 a.m. PT on Saturday and will continue with heat racing leading up to Sunday morning’s finals.
Sunday’s schedule begins with heat racing at 4 a.m. PT. The finals in the varsity eight will begin at 6:15 a.m. PT.

Stanford will also have a lightweight boat in the Stanford Invitational/Pac-12 Challenge this Saturday at Redwood Shores. The Cardinal will race against Humbolt at 12:20 p.m. PT.
Following this weekend’s regatta in Boston, Stanford will return to the West Coast where the Cardinal will compete in the WIRA Championships in Gold River, California, April 30 – May 1.
