STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford sailing team dominated the Women’s PCCSC Championships this past weekend in Long Beach, California, finishing first by a wide margin in the ten-team field.

Junior skipper Lily Katz led Stanford to a win in the A-division with freshman crew Kathryn Booker. Katz and Booker won seven of the 10 races they sailed, finishing with 14 total points, well ahead of second place Cal (34 points).

In the B-division, freshman skipper Mimi El-Khazindar and sophomore crew Elena VandenBerg won nine of their 10 races, finishing the regatta with a mere 11 points. Stanford’s 25 point total across both divisions was more than enough to finish ahead of Cal (77), Santa Clara (89) and UC Santa Barbara (91).

Stanford was also in action at the Thompson Trophy in New London, Connecticut, finishing sixth in the 17-team field. Freshman skipper Russell Clarida and junior crew J.P. Cannistraro had the best finish in any division, winning the C-division.

Sophomore skipper Will La Dow and junior crew Nikki Obel took 12th-place in the A-division, while junior skipper Reinier Eenkema van Dijk and freshman crew Cassie Obel placed 13th in the B-field.

The Cardinal returns to action next weekend, competing in the Coed PCCSC Championships and the PCCSC Team Racing Championships in San Diego, California. Live results will be available at CollegeSailing.org.
