OJAI, Calif. – Fourth-seeded Stanford notched a 4-0 sweep of No. 5 seed Oregon Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Championships, avenging its 2014 tournament loss to the Ducks. Maciek Romanowicz continued his stellar season with his 12th career match-clinching point and fourth of the season.
The Cardinal (14-9) grabbed the lead 1-0 after winning the doubles point with victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots over the Ducks (18-7).
Tom Fawcett added to the Cardinal’s lead, dispatching Daan Maasland for the second time this season 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
Nolan Paige jumped on the revenge tour as well, topping Jayson Amos, whom he lost to earlier in the season, with a 6-4, 6-4 win at court four.
Maciek Romanowicz added the clincher shortly after at No. 5 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Cormac Clissold to push his win streak to four.
Stanford will return to action tomorrow as it sets to face top-seeded UCLA in semifinals. Match time is set for 10 a.m. in Ojai, Calif. and will be aired live on Pac-12 Networks.
