STANFORD, Calif. - A true test awaits the ninth-ranked Cardinal as it sets to head to southern California to take on MPSF foe, the fifth-ranked Women of Troy. USC enters the game with an undefeated record of 15-0, coming off a win over No. 8 Notre Dame on Monday.
Meeting for only the 5th time in program history, the Cardinal (12-2, 7-0 MPSF) holds a 3-1 record over USC (15-0, 7-0 MPSF). Stanford currently holds a two game winning streak over USC in a re-match of last year’s MPSF Championship game.
The only loss to the Women of Troy came in 2014 in Los Angeles in a game that featured four lead changes and five tie scores. The Cardinal led with 14 minutes left in the game, but USC scored two goals in 28 seconds to take the lead which they never relinquished in an 11-10 win.
The Cardinal avenged the loss last year with a 12-6 win over USC at home on April 19th before defeating them again 16-11 in the MPSF Championship on May 3.
Friday’s game will be aired live at 4:30 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Networks with Julianne Viani and Christian Miles on the call.
