STANFORD, Calif. – Six Stanford women’s gymnasts earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference Friday.
Jenna Frowein (architecture) was named to the first team for the third consecutive season. Honorable mention selections included Melissa Chuang (international relations), Rachel Daum (human biology), Ivana Hong (human biology and sociology), Taylor Rice (international relations) and Haley Spector (human biology).
Frowein became the third gymnast in program history to earn three All-Pac-12 First Team honors, joining Carly Janiga (2008-10) and Shona Morgan (2012-14). She concluded her undergraduate studies earlier this year and is pursuing her coterminal master’s degree in sustainable design and construction. Frowein is interested in a career that examines how natural engineering and architecture in nature can be applied to modern day architecture.
It is the second all-academic honors for Daum and Spector, and the first award for Chuang, Hong and Rice.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Stanford tied for first place at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional this past weekend to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the ninth time in the past 10 years. The Cardinal will compete at nationals in Fort Worth, Texas, April 15-16 and pursue its eighth Super Six appearance in the past 15 years.
