STANFORD, Calif. – Maddie Bauer and Jane Campbell will continue their soccer careers after both were selected in the top-15 of the National Women's Soccer League draft Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles.
Bauer was drafted in the first round (sixth overall) by the Seattle Reign and Campbell was selected in the second round (15th overall) by the Houston Dash. Bauer is the ninth first round pick in Stanford history and it is the 12th consecutive year the Cardinal has had at least one draft pick.

Maddie Bauer started in 88 of a possible 91 games during her career.
Bauer had an outstanding senior season and was named a NSCAA first-team All-American, MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, All-Pac-12 first team and TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Best XI second team.
Bauer started every game at center defender in 2016 and helped Stanford register nine shutouts and limit opponents to 0.79 goals per game. She anchored the Cardinal's defense that held opponents to one goal or fewer in 73-of-88 games during her career.
Bauer compiled an impressive list of academic and athletic honors. Academically, she was the only Pac-12 player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, was named a Senior CLASS Award Top-30 finalist and claimed Pac-12 All-Academic recognition for the third consecutive year.
Jane Campbell completed her career as one of Stanford's best goalkeepers of all-time.
Campbell completed her career as one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in Stanford history and has earned two call-ups to the senior U.S. women's national team during the past four months. She ranks in the top-five in multiple Stanford career categories, including minutes played (1st, 7431:34), shutouts (t-1st, 35), saves (t-3rd, 210) and goals-against average (5th, 0.65).
Campbell is a three-time All-Pacific region selection, three-time All-Pac-12 and the 2015 Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year. She registered 14 shutouts in 2014, which is tied for the second-most in Stanford single season history and 16th in NCAA Division I history.
The duo helped lead Stanford to its second consecutive Pac-12 title, the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and past the first round of the tournament for the 11th straight season during a successful 2016 campaign.
