INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Stanford wrapped up competition at the NCTC Classic, headlined by sophomore Caroline Lampl reaching the singles semifinals.
Lampl, who concluded the fall with a 4-1 record, won her first three matches – including a 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 46-ranked Jessica Failla of USC in the quarterfinals – before falling in straight sets in the semifinals.
Lampl enjoyed a terrific rookie season in 2016, leading the Cardinal in overall victories (30-5) and winning 13 of her 14 matches at the No. 5 position of the lineup. Lampl also finished 21-2 in duals, representing the highest dual win total by a Cardinal freshman since Nicole Gibbs went 27-0 in 2011.
