STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford faces Washington at 5 p.m. PT at Maples Pavilion in its first Saturday home contest of the 2016-17 season. The Cardinal hosts the Huskies for the first time since the 2014-15 season, as Washington did not make the trip to Stanford last season due to Pac-12 scheduling.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
In 17 games, Stanford played eight teams projected to be in the 2017 NCAA Tournament field, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi. All eight teams - UCLA (3), Kansas (5), USC (20) Saint Mary's (22), Arizona (27), Miami (31), Seton Hall (35) and SMU (47) - also rank among ESPN analyst Jay Bilas' list of "Top 68 Teams In The Land." The Cardinal played only two of these teams (Arizona and Saint Mary's) at home. Stanford's strength of schedule as of Jan. 13 ranks third nationally.
AGAINST WASHINGTON
Stanford owns a 74-71 edge in the all-time series with Washington. The Huskies won two meetings last season, defeating the Cardinal in Seattle (64-53) and in the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas (91-68). Stanford has won the last two meetings at Maples Pavilion. UW last won on The Farm on Jan. 12, 2013. No current member of the Cardinal has played in a home loss to UW.
THE RETURN OF R2T2
After missing two games with a right shoulder injury, Reid Travis, returned to the court against Washington State on Thursday with 17 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes. The junior has been among the Pac-12 leaders in scoring (4th, 17.5) and rebounding (5th, 9.3) all season. In his 15 games, Travis has accounted for 24.9 percent (262-of-1051) of the Cardinal's scoring and 25.9 percent (140-of-540) of Stanford's rebounding total.
CARTWRIGHT RUNNING THE POINT
Sophomore Robert Cartwright has taken over the starting point guard role with two of his best games of the season the past two contests. Cartwright is averaging 19.5 points, 8.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 32.0 minutes over Stanford's last two games against UCLA and Washington State. He is coming off a career-high 21-point performance against the Cougars on Thursday.

HUMPHREY CONTROLLING THE GLASS
Michael Humphrey returned to the starting lineup three games ago, where he has impacted the paint on both ends. Since his return to the lineup, he has totaled 30 rebounds in the last three games. Humphrey has played more than 30 minutes in each of the past three contests, after not reaching the 30-minute mark in any of the first 14 games. At UCLA, Humphrey set a career-high with 27 points and finished one shy of his career-high with 14 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He followed that up with a 10-rebound performance in 24 minutes against Washington State on Thursday.
SHEFFIELD JOINS TOMSIC WITH PERFORMANCE AGAINST ASU
Sophomore Marcus Sheffield poured in a career-high 35 points on 11-of-15 shooting against Arizona State. He was just the second underclassman in the history of the program (Ron Tomsic, 39 vs. Bradley and 38 vs. USC in 1952-53) to score 35 or more points in a game. Sheffield was the first Cardinal to record a 30-point game since Chasson Randle collected 35 against Rhode Island in the 2014-15 season.
PICKENS ON TARGET FROM BEYOND THE ARC
Junior Dorian Pickens has posted at least one three-pointer in 15 games, with multiple three-pointers in nine contests. He is shooting 38.6 percent from three-point range, with a team-best 32 three-pointers (12th in the Pac-12). He registered a career-high seven (7-of-10) vs. Idaho. Pickens connected on the game-winning trifecta against Indiana State with 2.0 seconds left.
MARCUS ALLEN WITH BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE IN RETURN TO LINEUP AT USC
Senior Marcus Allen made the most of his return to the starting lineup at USC on Jan. 5. The Cardinal poured in a season-high 13 points, matched his season-high with five rebounds and added two steals in a season-long 37 minutes of action against the Trojans. Allen, averaging 4.4 ppg on the year, has totaled 26 points, 10 rebounds and six steals in his last four games against Arizona, USC, UCLA and Washington State.
THE JUNIOR CLASS
Stanford's four-member junior class - Reid Travis, Dorian Pickens, Michael Humphrey and Robert Cartwright - has accounted for a total of 46.7 ppg this season. Travis (17.5 ppg), Pickens (13.4 ppg), Humphrey (8.4 ppg) and Cartwright (7.4 ppg) rank one, two, three and four, respectively, among Stanford's scoring leaders. Cartwright is listed as a sophomore after receiving a medical redshirt for the 2015-16 season.
VETERAN GROUP
Boasting one of the most experienced rosters in the Pac-12, four starters - Reid Travis, Michael Humphrey, Marcus Allen, and Christian Sanders - and 10 of the top 11 scorers from last season are back. Including the 17 games this season, Stanford's roster has combined for 788 appearances.
