STANFORD, Calif. – No. 8 Stanford opens Pac-12 Conference play this week when it travels to face No. 12 Arizona State on Friday and No. 18 Arizona on Saturday.
Stanford (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12) starts the weekend Friday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex against Arizona State (4-0, 2-0) at 1 p.m. PT. Live statistics will be available at GoStanford.com.
On Saturday, Stanford travels to the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson to face Arizona (2-1, 1-1). Live results will not be available for Saturday, but a recap will be posted to GoStanford.com immediately following the meet.

The Cardinal starts its stretch of Pac-12 play leading up to the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place March 1-4 in Federal Way, Washington. After its trip to Arizona, Stanford hosts USC at the Avery Aquatic Center Feb. 4 followed by a trip to Cal on Feb. 18.
The Cardinal opened 2017 with a 162-82 win against Pacific on Jan. 6 at Avery Aquatic Center after competing in three fall events, which had no team score. Stanford secured several NCAA A-cuts at the Texas Invitational Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, including freshman True Sweetser, who earned A-cuts in both distance events.
Sweetser, who claimed Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month honors in October, is one of two Division I swimmers with an A-cut in both the 1,650-yard freestyle (14:35.03) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:12.97). Freshman Grant Shoults (4:12.03) and junior Liam Egan (4:12.99) also earned A-cuts in the 500 free.
