Mission Accomplished

ANDOVER, Mass. – The Stanford synchronized swimming team began its season Saturday and Sunday at a two-day meet hosted by Wheaton College.

Looking to evaluate her underclassmen in a competitive environment, head coach Sara Lowe competed with only six swimmers from her "B'' squad.

The Cardinal entered only the team event Saturday night against Wheaton and Boston University, and won behind the swims of Elle Billman, Natalie Fletcher, Gillian Brassil, Karen Li, Dylan Harding and Lily Randhawa with a score of 76.8000. On Sunday, the group finished first again, recording a total of 76.5250.

"This meet was to see where we are," said Lowe. "We're trying to be a little more strategic. It's great to be able to evaluate their performances so we can tweak our routines."

Lowe will use a similar strategy in the next meet on Feb. 3-4 against the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, where she will travel with only here "A" team.

Stanford, the defending Collegiate National Champion, returns home to host Lindenwood on Feb. 17 and Lindenwood and perennial power Ohio State on Feb. 18, its only home meets of the season.
