Sweetser picked up where he left off on Saturday at Arizona, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:06.81) ahead of fellow freshman Grant Shoults (9:14.86), who was nearly 20 seconds ahead of the third-place swimmer. Sweetser capped a phenomenal road trip with another win in the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.94), giving him four victories on the weekend by a combined 24.47 seconds.
One hundred and twenty two college swimmers were named swimmers of the week, with over 11,250 swimmers in action for the week of Jan. 16-23. Sweetser's first swimmer of the week honor came in October after he won the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:03.04) and the 500 freestyle (4:21.84) against Pacific in the Cardinal's first action of the season.
Stanford returns to action Feb. 4 when it hosts USC for the final home dual meet of the season. Senior day introductions will precede the meet, and live stream will be available at GoStanford.com.
