NEW YORK – The sixth-ranked Stanford women's squash team split road matches on Saturday and Sunday, falling at No. 3 Trinity, 9-0, then defeated No. 7 Cornell, 7-2.
The Cardinal is now 4-5 on the season.
Three Stanford players pushed opponents to four games against Trinity (10-1), including freshmen Casey Wong and Chloe Chemtob. Wong fell at No. 1 to Raneem Sharaf, 2-11, 7-11, 11-7, 5-11, while Chemtob lost at No. 2 to Anna Kimberly, 16-14, 8-11, 11-13, 8-11. At No. 7, Lucy Rowe succumbed to Jenny Haley, 11-8, 0-11, 4-11, 3-11.
The Cardinal cruised against Cornell (6-3), receiving wins from the fourth through ninth spots in the lineup. Victories came from Chemtob, Sarah Bell, Tara Shannon, Christie Huchro, Rowe, Tatyanna Dadabbo and Anna Marie Manning.
"It was a good trip," said Stanford head coach Mark Talbott. "We played very well against Cornell. Christie has been our most consistent player and Tatyanna is really playing well. Chloe has also picked up her game and is playing more aggressively."
The Cardinal conclude regular-season play on Feb. 11-12 when it faces Harvard, Dartmouth and Williams. Stanford plays at Harvard at 11 a.m. and Dartmouth at 6 p.m. on the 11th, and takes on Williams at 11 a.m. at Harvard on the 12th.
