On the Watch List

STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Colton Hock was named to the Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List by National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Monday afternoon.

Hock was Stanford's premier closer last year. The Bloomsburg, Pa., native was honorable mention All-Pac-12 last year as he led Stanford with six saves and a 2.03 ERA. Hock was a Top 100 prospect by Perfect Game (No. 7), D1Baseball.com (No. 12), and Baseball America (No. 13). Hock was also No. 18 on MLB.com's Top 50 list.

As a team, Stanford was ranked in all four preseason Top 25 polls this season. Eleven freshmen will join Beck, Hock, Brodey and a Stanford squad that returns nearly its entire starting lineup, all of its starting pitching and the majority of its bullpen. Last season on The Farm, the Cardinal finished 31-23 overall -- the 38th winning season in 40 years under Coach Marquess -- and 15-15 in conference play (t-6th in Pac-12).

Individual and season tickets as well as mini-plans are now on sale. Coach Marquess' final season begins Feb. 17 at Cal State Fullerton, and the 2017 home opener is slated for Feb. 24 against Kansas.
