STANFORD, Calif. - The 12th-ranked Cardinal will travel to Frisco, Texas to the Ford Center to compete in the Patriot Cup where it will face the 10th-ranked Duke Blue Devils in the third game of the event at 2 p.m. PT.

Devilishly Dominant: Duke enters into this weekend's contest  with a perfect 3-0 record... and holding a 6-0 all-time record on the Cardinal. The last time the two programs met was in 2014 in the NCAA First Round in South Bend, Ind. The Blue Devils won 13-8 with appearances by a Kelsey Murray, Alex Poplawski, Elizabeth Cusick and Laura Klein.

Quick Draw McGraws: The Cardinal has proven one thing this season, when it comes to draw controls, it puts its money where its mouth is. Stanford  is currently 19th in the nation in draw controls per game with a 14.00 average.

Alex Poplawski enters the season as the point person in draw controls for the Cardinal. A combination of skill, finesse and height - Poplawski entered the Stanford record books in the first game of the season as she posted seven draw controls against UC Davis to tie her for 11th all-time in single game records at Stanford.

Offense May Win Games, but Defense...The Cardinal has taken pride in its defensive prowess in its program history, but this year it has a daunting task in replacing two All-Americans on defense in Adrienne Anderson and Meg Lentz. The duo combined last year with senior Alexa Mullins sending three new faces into defense in 2017. Freshmen Kyra Pelton and Mikaela Watson have filled that hole with junior Cameron Park.

Currently on the year the Cardinal is 19th in the NCAA in scoring defense.

Treat Your Elders With Respect: The Cardinal is well aware of the adage after the return of Anna Salemo - the oldest MPSF Rookie of the Year. Salemo returned to Stanford lacrosse after a four-year break, including coaching the Mountain View High School girls varsity lacrosse team. In her first season back? She finished ranked 3rd in the MPSF in game-winning goals, 7th in goals,  9th in points and 10th in goals per game. Bottom line? The southpaw isn't one you should ever take your eye off of...

The Kids Are Alright: Recruiting is something the Cardinal coaching staff works relentlessly on year-round and the fruit of that labor is in the elite classes its bringing in. Stanford has nine freshmen on the roster - two of which are starting and seven have already seen their first collegiate action.
