STANFORD, Calif. – Four current and incoming Stanford players were selected to the U.S. U-20 and U-23 Women's National Teams to compete in matches in La Manga, Spain.
Tierna Davidson was called in to the U-23 squad, while rising sophomore Ceci Gee and incoming freshmen Belle Briede and Civana Kuhlmann will compete with the U-20 team.
The U-23 team will play three matches, taking on Japan (March 2), England (March 4) and Norway (March 6). The U-20 team will also play three games, beginning with Norway (March 3), Germany (March 5) and France (March 7).
Davidson had an outstanding freshman campaign, starting all 21 games in the midfield. She registered six points on two goals and two assists and excelled at maintaining possession through the midfield and distributing. Davidson earned All-Pac-12 second team honors and was selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
Gee made 12 appearances, including five starts, during her freshman season. She contributed two assists on the year and spent time on Stanford's backline that limited opponents to 0.81 goals per game.
Briede is a three-time youth NSCAA All-American (2014-16) and has spent time with multiple U.S. youth national teams. She scored twice during a game in Northern Ireland with the U.S. U-18 team in October of 2016.
Kuhlmann has competed for multiple U.S. youth national teams (U-14, U-15, U-17, U-19) and participated in the U-17 Women's World Cup. She became the first player to score a hat trick for the U.S. in a U-17 Women's World Cup.
