STANFORD, Calif. -- Junior Quinn Brodey earned his second straight Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week honor from the conference office on Tuesday.
Brodey is the first player to win the award in back-to-back weeks since Washington State's Brian Wolfe in 2014, and is the first Stanford player to pull off the feat since Jon Schaeffer in 1997.
Brodey had seven runs batted in during Stanford's 16-6 win over Rice on Thursday -- tied for the most by a Cardinal since 2000. He was also 3-for-6 with two runs and a grand slam that night. His 7 RBI and grand slam were both firsts for Stanford since Brian Ragira accomplished both on April 2, 2011. In addition to that effort, the Los Angeles, Calif., native helped Stanford earn a series road split at Rice with two more hits in Sunday's 2-0 win.
For the week, Brodey was 5-for-15 with 8 RBI and a .533 slugging percentage. This marks the fourth weekly award in the last three weeks for the Cardinal. Brodey's roommate at Stanford, Colton Hock, was named Pitcher of the Week last Tuesday, while Andrew Summerville was the conference's top pitcher the week before.
Stanford (11-5) is in the midst of a 12-day break. The Cardinal will be back in action, March 24-26, against Utah at Sunken Diamond. The weekend will feature cushion seat giveaway, ice cream social and autographs.
