SALT LAKE CITY - No. 8 Stanford extended its winning streak to nine, powering past Utah 6-1 on Friday afternoon in the first match of its weekend road swing.
Stanford (13-1, 5-0 Pac-12) completed a perfect March, winning all eight of its matches. The Cardinal suffered its only loss of the season back on Feb. 19, falling to No. 1 Florida 4-1 in Gainesville.
The Cardinal took a 1-0 lead, claiming a hard-fought doubles point with wins at the lower two spots.
Emily Arbuthnott made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Taylor Calton at the No. 4 spot, representing the fifth time this season Arbuthnott has blanked an opponent in straight sets.
Caroline Lampl followed with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Whitney Turley at the No. 3 position, increasing Stanford's lead to 3-0.
Melissa Lord provided the clincher with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jena Cheng on court two.
Kimberly Yee contributed her first dual match win of the season, prevailing 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.
Stanford wraps up its road swing on Sunday against Colorado at 9 a.m. PT.
